imPRESS Press On Manicure

Boy do I have something awesome for you today. I received a free imPress press on manicure via my momvox, and I LOVE them.
I used the little prep pad and then stuck then down. So simple! Now, some of you know that I work in a shipping department and also have my own photography studio. I was not expecting anything except these bad boys to pop right off. Very circa 1990. Well, lucky for me, I was completely wrong. In fact, I just got back from California this week. I passed on them thinking they wouldn't last and painted my nails instead. Wouldn't you know, my nails chipped the second day of my vacation. I'm really regretting not using them.
So, I know you want to know more about them. Here is a little product info. Isn't the packing adorable?

The Many Uses of Ivory

Ivory Bar Soap

Did you know that Ivory soap can be used as a laundry detergent? I found this recipe from www.thefamilyhomestead with directions.
Homemade Laundry Soap
1 bar ivory soap
½ cup washing soda
½ cup borax powder
~You will also need a small bucket, about 2 gallon size~

Grate the soap and put it in a sauce pan.  Add 6 cups water and heat it until the soap melts.  Add the washing soda and the borax and stir until it is dissolved.  Remove from heat.  Pour 4 cups hot water into the bucket.   Now add your soap mixture and stir.  Now add 1 gallon plus 6 cups of water and stir.  Let the soap sit for about 24 hours and it will gel.  You use ½ cup per load.

Making your own soap definitely saves money and works just as well as expensive detergents. It really doesn't take very long and you can store it in plastic bottles, like previous laundry detergent.

You can also use Ivory for other things, such as:
* Body Cleanser
       * Facial Cleanser
       * Clothes Stain Remover (food stains, ring around collar, etc)
       * Laundry Flakes
       * Soap Carving Project

Here is some product information about Ivory soap. They have all different kinds from bars to gels. I used the plain white bar.

Ivory Bar Soap

Free of dyes and heavy perfumes, Ivory provides a simple, yet effective clean for the entire family (without breaking the bank!).

Ivory bar soap is 99.44% pure (it floats!).  Beyond using it as a body cleanser, many of Ivory's loyal users – not to mention a few celebrities – swear by Ivory as their beauty secret. In fact, many consumers use Ivory bar soap as a facial cleanser.  It provides healthier, smoother and more even-looking skin. Also, its versatility makes it an effective laundry soap (just chip soap flakes into the washer) as well as a spot stain remover on your clothes (including delicate items). Ivory bars can even be used for a fun soap carving project with the family!

When it comes to motherhood,  Ivory (the clean & simple soap) knows that being a mom has become more complex than ever, and that moms are looking for ways to simplify their lives. According to a survey of 1,000+ moms conducted by Wakefield Research on Ivory’s behalf in October 2011, 80% of American moms think motherhood is more complicated today than it was 20 years ago, despite the thousands of items supposedly designed to “simplify” their lives. But, while they may be more stressed out and busier than ever, almost 90% of moms think they’re doing a better job balancing it all than their mothers did. Some other interesting stats:

· 30% of moms surveyed found the most complicated aspect of motherhood was finding more "me" time, 66% confessed to hiding in their bathroom for some alone time.
· 75% feel the pressure to make every outing, playdate, or experience a "teachable moment," which can create great pressure

· 70% of moms feel they don’t have everything together, despite others thinking that they do.

As a result of these findings, Ivory created a Facebook community where everyday moms can share tips with one another on ways to simplify life for themselves and their families.

Find your Ivory now at your nearest retailer, including stores such as Walmart and Target as well as any major grocery, dollar and drug store.  A 10-pack of Ivory bar soap retails for around  $4.49 (bath bar size).

*I did receive a free bar of Ivory soap by participating in the momvox challenge from www.influenster.com It is free to signup and apply to get your own box. The opinions I have written are my own and were not influenced by anyone else.

Quaker Soft Baked Oatmeal Cookies

I received a Quaker Soft Baked Oatmeal Cookie to try and see if I liked it or not. Luckily since my son is allergic to eggs and peanuts, I was the lucky one to get to it eat when it arrived! I opened the bag and tried a bite. It was truly a soft baked cookie.
Now you all know that when you make oatmeal cookies at home that they can be hard. Hard as in rocks, not hard to make. This cookie was so soft it "almost" fell apart. It didn't, but that's how soft it was.
It had a great cinnamon flavor. I wish Nolan could try it because he loves cinnamon so much. I only allowed myself half of it because I wanted to savor it.
